Sustainability and the online channel

This week we look at: the significant relationship between sustainability and the online channel; which types of category fared better during the last recession; and the second element in the impact of innovation on product choice.

  1. Likely a result of demographic profiles (older, better off …) and eco product availability. A problem for some retailers such as Discounters? An opportunity for eco brands?
  2. Whilst Personal Care was on a continuing growth trajectory and Household Care showed a short term gain, the relative benefit to volumes was greatest on Food & Beverages.
  3. Adding a new product decreases the utility of similar products – the choice probability will decrease disproportionally more for products similar to the newly introduced product than for dissimilar products.
