#WhoCaresWhoDoes?
Our #WhoCaresWhoDoes? initiative aims to support brand manufacturers and retailers to better understand consumer attitudes regarding the environment and how that translates into brand and retailer purchasing. So far, we have surveyed over 80,000 shoppers across 23 countries*. Given that threats to the environment are manifold, one of our objectives was to better understand which aspects people are most concerned with. We asked respondents to indicate which environmental challenge they perceive to be the most pressing out of a list of 16 different threats (see figure).
- Three topics turned out to be amongst the top three issues in at least half ofthe countries: Water pollution, plastic waste and climate change.
- Plastic waste was amongst the top-ranked issues in many countries, but it is the number one environmental concern in European markets only.
- Water pollution is an important issue everywhere (especially in Latin America) whereas food safety is a key concern in China.
Our survey also looks at behaviours regarding plastic avoidance, shoppers’ expectations towards manufacturers and retailers to help the environment and asks which manufacturers and retailers have a strong environmental record. Want to learn more? Get in touch.
